FAQ
Questions buyers and suppliers ask
Buyers
How can a company in the UAE or the Gulf find and check carbon credits?
Start with what the credits are for: a voluntary claim or a compliance scheme. We help you find credits issued on recognised registries such as Verra, spot or long-term, and check the public registry record, such as the project, methodology and vintage. Where a scheme needs host-country authorisation, we help you check what the documents show.
Are you a carbon credit broker?
No. MACROAGRI is an advisory business. In our advisory work, we help you find and check credits and introduce you to the seller, and the buyer and the seller contract directly. If we ever take part in a deal on our own account, we tell you in writing before you commit.
What does MACROAGRI do, and who do I contract with?
MACROAGRI advises buyers and connects them with suppliers and project issuers for biochar, feedstock, fuels and carbon credits, spot or long-term. We help you find the right party and introduce you. You contract directly with the supplier or project issuer, not with MACROAGRI. In our advisory work, we don't own, hold or deliver the supply or credits.
How does an introduction work, and when do I get the other party's details?
You tell us what you need: the product or credit, volume, specification and term, spot or long-term. We look for suppliers or project issuers that fit and tell you, in outline, what they offer. We share their details once you commit to proceed and they agree. You then talk to each other directly, and we advise on the detail.
How does an introduction to a specific project work, and how are offtake terms agreed?
Tell us the project, or the kind of project you need, with the volume and the term, spot or long-term. We talk to the project issuer about fit and, once you commit to proceed and they agree, introduce you. You and the issuer agree the offtake terms directly, such as volume, vintages and timing; we advise on the detail.
Do you work with companies outside the UAE?
MACROAGRI is a Masdar City Free Zone company, based in Abu Dhabi. Tell us where you are and where the supply or credits need to go, and we'll say whether we can help. Import, customs and local rules sit with the buyer, or their licensed importer, and the supplier. Use Work with us to start.
Can you help us find SAF, renewable diesel (HVO) or biomass fuels?
Yes. We help buyers find sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable diesel (HVO) and biomass or residue-based fuels, spot or long-term. We help you check any test result or certificate the supplier provides, with who issued it, and advise on the specification and terms. Buyer and supplier contract directly, and the supplier delivers under that contract.
Suppliers and issuers
How do suppliers and project issuers work with MACROAGRI, and what do you need from us?
Tell us what you produce or what project you run, through Work with us. For supply, we ask for the specification, origin and any test results or certificates, with who issued them. For projects, we ask for the registry record, methodology and vintage. With your agreement, we introduce you to buyers whose needs fit, spot or long-term.
Will you share our details or documents without our consent?
No. We ask for your agreement before we share your name, details, documents or records with a buyer, and you decide what to share and with whom. Until you agree, nothing about you goes to that buyer. Once you agree, the buyer can check what you provide, with who issued it, and you contract with them directly.
What types of carbon project do you work with?
We talk with project issuers in agriculture and forestry. We help them find buyers, spot or long-term, for credits issued on Verra's registry. Buyers and project issuers contract directly. We don't rate projects; we help buyers check the public registry record and the documents the issuer provides.
Carbon credit basics
What is a carbon credit, and how do removal and avoidance credits differ?
A carbon credit is a unit issued on a registry for a measured reduction or removal of greenhouse gas by a project. It is retired when used for a claim. Avoidance credits come from cutting or preventing emissions. Removal credits come from taking carbon out of the air and storing it. We help you find and check both.
How can I tell whether a carbon credit is high quality?
Check four things. The public registry record: project, methodology and vintage. Additionality: would the reduction or removal have happened without the credit? Permanence: how long the carbon stays out of the air, and how reversals are covered. Issuer: which registry issued it and who the project issuer is. We help you check each one; we don't rate credits.
Which registries do you work with, and how do you check a project's quality?
We help buyers find credits issued on Verra's registry. We don't rate projects. For each credit, we help you check the public registry record, such as the project, the methodology and the vintage, and any documents the project issuer provides, with who issued each one. Where a record doesn't exist, we say so, and you decide.
Can you help an airline check whether credits fit its CORSIA obligations?
We can help you find credits and check what the public registry record shows, including any CORSIA label the registry displays. Whether a credit counts towards an airline's CORSIA obligations depends on ICAO's rules and the airline's own compliance process. We don't confirm eligibility. We advise on the detail, and the airline contracts directly with the seller of the credits.
